We were very lucky to have so many family and friends attend Annika's baptism last weekend at Trinity UMC here in Rome. We were expecting my parents from Michigan to make the trip, but I got surprised Friday afternoon at my office by Brian, Mary, Taylor and Haley! They had made the trip a secret and no one knew they were coming. This was their first trip to Georgia, and exciting for the girls - especially Taylor - who had just done a school project on Georgia. We spent Friday evening catching up and eating pizza.
On Saturday, we took a walk around Berry College and the Atlanta British Motorcar Day. After lunch at Sonic (something the northerners just HAD to have), the guys did their thing and Mary, Taylor, Haley and I toured Oak Hill, the home of Martha Berry. After a tour of her home and the museum, we visited the gift shop where the girls got souvenirs of the trip. Saturday night we celebrated Mother's Day with dinner at Ballengers and then sat around the firepit until the wee hours of the morning...
Sunday was the baptism, which went well. Many other family and friends joined us at the church and then came to our home for lunch afterwards. There are lots of pictures posted in the May album. Brian, Mary and the girls left Sunday afternoon to get a head start going home. Mom & Dad stuck around until Monday morning, had a cup of coffee and danish with me and Annika and then hit the road as well. Everyone had a good time visiting and they all made it home safely again by Tuesday afternoon!
