Can you believe that Annika is 9 months old already? All of this growing really wears her out! She is getting so big and learning so much every day! We went to the doctor this week for her 9-month well-child checkup and she is doing great! She weighs 23 pounds 3 ounces (95th percentile) and is 29 inches tall (97th percentile). She is scooting everywhere on the floor - sometimes on her butt, sometimes on her stomach, but she can't get the hang of crawling forward. Everywhere that she goes on her stomach, she goes backwards. But, I'm sure she'll learn in time and right now we are just enjoying our last few days of a relatively immobile (or at least slowly-mobile) child. I know this won't last for long and soon she will be flying all over the house!
She is also starting to eat many more table foods, which is very fun and interesting. She LOVES refried beans, but doesn't like sweet potatoes at all. Mashed potatoes are great, but she still prefers her zwieback toasts to puffs or other breads. She is even starting to tune her fine motor skills - picking up small pieces of food from the tray of her highchair and putting them in her mouth herself!
She's also making progress toward talking...she says "dadada" and imitates us when we call for Doc - "Dah". No "mama" yet, but that's OK. She's also realized that there are lots of sounds her tongue can make - clicking noises, blowing noises and the "scooter" sound are her latest. It amazes us to watch her learn these new things everyday!
