A little wordy...

Annika's vocabulary is really growing lately. She is mimicking a lot of what we say (so we are now being much more careful about what we say...) and she has a few standards that she knows well. I've been doing some reading just to see where she falls, and what I can gather is that most 16 month-olds can say around 4-5 words consistently.

Here's her list:
  • Doc (this is her word for all dogs...she loves to yell it out the back door, or to wake him up while he's sleeping on the floor)
  • Mommy
  • Daddy
  • Milk (sounds more like "muck", but we understand her). She uses this for juice and water too...
  • Up
  • Down
  • Ball
  • Baby
  • Num-Num. We don't know what this is, except that she uses it for most food, and while pointing at her high chair.
  • No. Surprisingly, we don't hear this one too often, but I'm sure that will change.
  • Uh-oh.

So, now that I have them down on a list, it looks like she's doing OK! And to think that I was worried she wasn't saying enough. We've also started hearing a few more words, but not consistenly. She will repeat after us, and just this weekend we heard "diaper", "socks", "Beppe" and "Amen". Too cute. Hopefully we'll hear more soon!
