Last weekend, we packed up the car and headed north for a quick trip to Michigan. Our nephew, Brian, married his long-time girlfriend, Rachel, in a beautiful wedding at the NRW Ranch. We left Thursday after Lee got out of school, drove halfway, and arrived Friday afternoon. We relaxed a little bit, enjoyed the wedding Saturday evening, and then headed home on Sunday afternoon, stopping halfway again and getting home Monday afternoon. It was a very quick trip, but so much fun. I can't believe that Brian is old enough to get married already - I guess he is only 8 years younger than me! :)
The wedding was beautiful - the ceremony surrounded by sunflowers and Rachel arriving in a beautiful horse-drawn carriage. The reception was outdoors under a huge tent, and everyone had such a great time! Check out their amazing wedding pictures here. Annika probably would have stayed all night if we had let her - she was still dancing at 10:30pm with no sign of stopping! What a great time!
It was a hard day for my family because my dad was not able to be there with us, but he was definitely remembered and thought of often! We did get to visit with him on Saturday and Sunday at the nursing home, and it is so good to see Annika recognize her "Grandpa T" and hold his hand, squeeze his knee and give him kisses. We are so thankful that we were able to make this quick trip and be a part of Brian and Rachel's special day.
