About five years ago, Lee was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy after he noticed something wasn't right while he was working out at the Y. When Annika was born, we were told that HCM is genetic and she would need to be tested around age 2. So, this week we had an appointment with Dr. Donner, a pediatric cardiologist here in Rome for an echocardiogram. Annika did so well, and this is one of the many pictures of her amazing, perfect beating heart that the nurse gave to us. You can see all four chambers very clearly. Thankfully, she has no signs of the disease! We'll go back when she is 5 for another check-up. Although it is pretty obvious that we have a strong and growing little girl, it was reassuring to hear from the cardiologist that her heart is healthy.
