Mother's Day

Another busy weekend at the Green house! I spent my "Furlough Friday" painting the kitchen and dining room. This was well overdue, as we live hard in our house! I have been going back and forth on colors for a couple months, and decided that I just needed to take the plunge and go for it, so that took up the better part of Friday and Saturday. It was a lot of work, but both rooms look so much better - it's amazing what paint can do! Friday night we headed to the first "First Friday" concert of the season. It was beautiful weather and the park was packed! We brought along a picnic dinner and enjoyed the music.

Saturday night we slipped out for a little bit to see Andrew Watson and the Army of Hott at The Nest Coffee Shop. It was a great show, and afterwards Andrew and a few friends came over and we sat outside enjoying the spring weather.

On Sunday, I was treated to breakfast for Mother's Day, and then we headed out bright and early to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. It was such a beautiful day, and we made it there before the huge crowds. It was about 70 degrees and breezy - the perfect day to walk through all of the gardens and see the flowers that were blooming. We got to stroll the Canopy Walk, which just opened last week. And Annika had so much fun looking and exploring. The Children's Garden has several small exhibits and she ran from one to the next to see everything. She had so much fun that she was asleep in the car before we even left the parking lot.

This picture is Annika and I with Mr. Frog. We have a similar picture of my mom and dad talking with Mr. Frog on their visit to Atlanta a few years ago, and thought mom would appreciate that Mr. Frog is still doing well, although he's moved to a new bench in the garden.

We then headed east to see Lee's cousin Gina and Tim, and their new baby, Emma Kate, who was born Saturday night in Snellville. I still can't believe that she actually had her on her due date! Emma is beautiful and perfect, and so tiny! I guess I'm just not used to 7 pound babies. :) Annika held her too - this was her first time holding a newborn - and she did so well! She talked the whole way home about going to buy Baby Emma a present.

And now, back to the weekly grind. We have a busy week ahead of us again!
