It's the end of summer...the end of great fresh fruit...so time to get canning! This weekend I made two batches of Strawberry Jalapeno Jam - one of our favorites, and we've given so much away that the batch I made earlier this summer is already gone. It's a quick recipe, and now we have 20+ jars to last us until next Spring.
I also tried out a new recipe from local kitchen, a great food blog that I found through Food In Jars (another one of my favorites). Pirate Peaches is a yummy peach rum sauce that was so easy to make. Although we can't buy Kraken anywhere around here, I substituted another well-known brand of spiced rum and it's delicious! We couldn't even wait to try it, so we had some for dessert last night with friends over angel food cake with vanilla ice cream. Yum! (But definitely not for the <21 crowd!) :)
