It's been a few weeks since we've added any news, and we have been busy as usual. Lynn is busy at work with the new SACWIS computer system that has been in the works for 12+ years and is now finally becoming a reality. Lee is working on finishing his classes at JSU for the semester and getting ready for Spring Break from PMS in a few weeks.
We've had a busy weekend...it started by building a raised bed garden on Friday night. We cut all the lumber and assembled it in the garage, only to realize that we had built such a heavy-duty garden that we couldn't lift it to carry it to the back yard! So, on Saturday, we disassembled it and moved it to the back yard, where we leveled out a spot and put it back together. Finally, we filled it in with two truckloads of soil. I have the plans drawn up for the plants, but we are going to wait another week or two to plant them to be sure that it won't freeze on us again! We're hoping to have tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini, squash, hot peppers, potatoes and green beans. During this whole process, Annika was amazing! She took a two and a half hour nap (which NEVER happens) and then sat in the sun in the backyard and watched us for the rest of the afternoon. I think all of the fresh air did her good - she feel asleep in the middle of dinner!
On Sunday, we attended a special church service for Baby Recognition Sunday. Annika was honored with a certificate from the Trinity UMC Louise Langham UMW Circle of Friends, and we were recognized during the service along with ten other babies that were born or adopted into the congregation in 2007.
Finally, today we went to the doctor for Annika's 6-month well-child check-up. She got a few more shots and did well, as usual. She now weights 19 pounds, 7 ounces (95th percentile) and is 28.25 inches tall (97th percentile). She is growing so much, and I can't believe she has more than doubled her birth weight! We go back again in July for her 9-month check-up.
Well, that's all of the updates for now...we'll be busy in the next couple of weeks getting the garden ready and going to Michigan for Spring Break. In the meantime, we're hoping to build a rain barrel or two as well as fix our landscaping that didn't make it through the drought. So, let's hope for nice weather so that we can be outside!
