Happy New Year! We made it safely home from Michigan - in only one day - after spending an extra day in Zeeland due to car trouble. We were able to leave bright and early Sunday morning and once we got home, we spent a few days recuperating, doing laundry and getting the house back in order. The Christmas decorations are down and going into the attic today, and life is back to normal after the bustle of the holidays! We decided to spend a quiet evening at home this New Years, since we were exhausted from our travels to MI and back, and all the parties before we even left. So we enjoyed a nice dinner at home with the three of us, and then ventured out to downtown Rome for a horse and carriage ride down Broad Street. It was really beautiful out - not too cold, the trees were lit up...and just before we got into the carriage, Annika tripped on the sidewalk and got a bloody nose. It wasn't until we got home and into the light when we realized how bad it really was...she took most of the skin off the tip of her nose! She recovered quickly and we still enjoyed our carriage ride, though!
She wasn't really excited about having her picture taken, but she has really enjoyed being home and playing with all of the new toys that she got for Christmas. She really does play well, and she is "talking" more and more, even though we're not quite sure what she is saying. She recently discovered the phrase "uh-oh" and that is now her favorite. I think we hear it 500 times a day! We're really enjoying watching her grow and learn so many new things. We can't wait to see what this new year will hold!
