Where has June gone???

The month of June has really flown by. This is the month of our annual review at work, so that of course, has kept me busy. Most nights involve sitting on the couch with the laptop after Annika goes to bed, checking e-mails that just didn’t get answered during the day because of staffings, meetings, and who-knows-what-else. June was also a very slow month for the camera. Most weeks it didn’t even make it’s way out of the bag. Luckily, I have added some pictures from this past weekend to make up for it…

Some quick highlights, because I’m never going to have the time to write full posts about this stuff, like I was hoping:

Our friend, Matt, moved up from Atlanta. Lee helped him move into his new apartment, and we are very excited that he is now closer so that we can see him even more. Matt is a great friend that we convinced to move from Michigan to the great *hot* state of Georgia.

I finished my 6-month dental plan, so my mouth is finally in perfect shape! Two root canals and lots of cosmetic work and I’m finally done! That deserves a celebration!

Lee and Matt (mentioned above) took a 5-day trip up to Chicago and Michigan. They caught a Cubs game in Chicago and then headed up to Zeeland and stayed with my Mom for a few days. They hung out and caught a West Michigan Whitecaps game while in town, and then headed back South. They had a great time and are looking forward to another road trip next year, maybe? I had a great time being home with Annika by myself, but it did give me a great appreciation for single parents. I’m not sure I could do it on my own!

We celebrated Father’s Day by doing what Lee loves most – absolutely nothing! We lounged around the house, and ate a great meal. Annika made a cute home-made card for her daddy while he was gone, and he loved it! It was a good project, given her recent obsession with coloring.

Last week, Lee and I went to see Eddie Vedder in concert in Atlanta. I had bought him the tickets for graduation/our anniversary. It was a great concert at the Cobb Energy Center, which is a pretty small venue for this kind of concert. He played most of the Into the Wild soundtrack, and several cover songs – Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan, etc. We really enjoyed a night out doing something different, and are very thankful for our wonderful neighbors who picked Annika up from daycare and for Matt and Erin who took care of her that night. See, another great reason why we love having Matt here – another babysitter!

This past weekend, we enjoyed an afternoon of swimming at Jon and Mandy’s house. Annika and Kirk are really getting along well and it’s so fun to see them play together. Curtis and Debbie joined us, and brought incredible filets that we enjoyed on the grill. Lots of sun + great food = happy family!

Lee is still enjoying his summer vacation. He’s spending a lot of time working in the yard, playing with Annika and playing golf with his group of “teacher” friends. It’s gotten really warm over the past few weeks, so even the golfing has slowed down, but it sounds like we might have a break from the high-90s this week. The high-80s have never felt so good! I think that is a good update from now. We are looking forward to a relaxing 4th of July, and will post more pictures soon!
