Breakfast with Santa

Floyd EMS held another great event for our foster children last weekend. Click here to read about last year's breakfast and the generosity of the Rome community. This year was just as great. The paramedics and staff prepared a great breakfast for our foster families and kids, they arranged for an elf, Santa and Mrs. Claus to attend - even during their busy season, read Christmas stories to the children, had two clowns making balloon animals and even had a craft table for the kids. It was a great event and the turnout was fantastic!

The best news in re-reading last year's post is that we have decreased the number of children in foster care since last year by nearly 100 children. That is 100 children that have a permanent home either with their biological parents, relatives, fictive kin or adoptive family! This is a testament to the work that my staff does everyday, and I couldn't be more excited about the work that is happening in our office. We have finalized 60 adoptions this year, and worked to ensure that no child "ages out" of foster care unprepared for the real world that awaits them as an adult. We really are working diligently to ensure that every child is safe and thriving in a "forever family" sooner.

OK, so maybe this post wasn't really about eating breakfast with Santa after all, but it did make me smile. :)

Merry Christmas!
