This has been the scene out our back door for the past 3 days. It has been *COLD* here and the snow flurries flew on Thursday afternoon, causing schools to be closed on Friday. When I say
cold, I know that is relevant having spent my first 23+ years in Michigan, but after being in Georgia for 8 years, I am spoiled by the low temperatures during the winter. For the past week or so, the high temperatures have been in the 20s, and lows in the single digits. I don't think it has been this cold for this long since I have moved here, and we weren't prepared. We don't have big winter coats here - just a few fleece jackets and a scarf. The roads are getting better now, but were so icy and there is only (maybe) 1 salt truck in our county, so it's not getting better soon. We have been pretty much confined to our house for the past few days. Lut luckily the sun has come out today and most of the roads are better, but they are still speculating that schools might be closed tomorrow because no one has gotten to the country roads or the hilly areas. I have to laugh to think of me driving to HCHS in a blizzard when I was 16, but now I'm too scared to drive to the grocery store with this much snow...
So, we've been staying busy sitting around the fireplace, coloring, playing with play-doh and making fireplace smores. We're glad to see that we will be back in the 50s by the end of the week. That's more like it!
