We started at the Sky Hike. Lee did the high ropes walk, and Annika and Kirk had tons of fun on the low ropes course. I was really impressed that Annika breezed right through...much more coordinated that I expected her to be! :) After that we walked through the park and took a ride on the train around the perimeter of the mountain. We had lunch and visited the Dinosaur Train exhibit. This was really our whole reason for visiting the park, and Annika liked making "art projects" and searching for dinosaur bones in the kiddie pools full of sand.
Then we walked across the lawn and took the Summit Skyride up to the top of the mountain. It was a beautiful sight, and was also about 15 degrees cooler up there. We were able to see the Atlanta skyline and Annika had fun walking in the depressions on the top - which she thought were dinosaur tracks. Quite the imagination!
On Tuesday we went to see the Dave Matthews Band with Cameron and Jenni. We stopped in Atlantic Station for dinner and then headed to Lakewood for the show. It was another hot day, but we managed to avoid any of the afternoon thundershowers that have been popping up every day. Once the sun went behind the stage, it felt great outside with the breeze. It was a late night, especially for a week night, and has definitely shown me that we are not 21 years old anymore. Work the next day was rough, but we had a great time!
Now, we'll see what happens this weekend. We're planning on heading to Milledgeville on Saturday, and then to see the Barenaked Ladies at Chastain on Tuesday night. Lee starts back to school on Monday (teaching) and has a few more weeks off before starting back as a student. Where has the summer gone?
