Birthday weekend!

Well, it's official. I'm 32.

It was a great weekend...starting on Friday, which was a furlough day. I spent the morning making a "Curious George" dress for Annika. Her birthday is next month, and she asked for a Curious George party and we're going to see Curious George Live the weekend before her birthday. So, I thought she needed the perfect dress for both of these occasions. I found one on etsy.com, but of course when I went back to buy it, it was gone. So, one trip to the fabric store and a few hours of trying to remember how to sew = a cute little pillow case dress! It was quite the accomplishment, considering I haven't sewn any garment since a horrendous floral jumper in 6th grade 4-H at ZCS.

After the morning of sewing I did a few errands and picked up my race packet for the Clocktower 5k. Saturday morning I met up with a few friends and we had a lot of fun doing the race, even with the treacherous climb up Clocktower hill. It was beautiful weather, even though it was hot.

Saturday night we went out with a group of friends for dinner to Ballengers, one of our favorite restaurants. The Peppadew Cheese and Veggie pizza were great, and we ended dinner with tiramisu. Then we headed downtown for a little while...

Annika spent the night with Curtis & Debbie, and it is so strange to wake up at home without her here. We slowly got going, and picked her up around noon. We spent the afternoon lounging around the house, and had a great dinner of shrimp cocktail and cheesecake. Not a bad birthday dinner at all! :) And, I am so excited about my present from Lee - tickets to An Evening with Garrison Keillor - in November. I love him and cannot wait to see him again, red shoes and all.

It's been a great relaxing day, and I've spent some time tonight working on another "project" for the house. Pictures to come soon, hopefully!
