We're gearing up for another great Memory Walk this year to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Most of you read our post last year, but if not, you can read it
here. This year's walk will take place at Berry College on Saturday, September 19th and we are excited to continue this tradition with our family. We are walking in honor of my dad, Harvey, who was diagnosed several years ago with Alzheimer's disease. This past year has been especially hard because on January 8th he moved into a nursing home. His daily needs became more than my mom could handle, and she did more than we ever expected her to do. She is such a great role model for everyone in our family, and continues to sit with him for several hours each day, even though on some days he doesn't even know who she is. This has been especially hard for us to see him deteriorating on our visits to Michigan. But, he is very well taken care of, and that is all we can ask for at this point.
Again, we are walking this year in his honor. It is our hope that Annika will never have to know how horrible this disease is, and that by raising money for this cause, we can be a small part of the advances to treat and eventually
prevent Alzheimers disease.
We raised
$1852.28 last year, and I am hoping to surpass that this year! I know this is a lofty goal to meet in less than 2 weeks, but we are so thankful to have such supportive and GIVING family and friends!
