Although I really can't believe it, Annika turned 2 years old this week! We had planned a small celebration for Saturday night...every thing was in order. After work on Friday, we started to clean the house, got some food ready, and I got sick...REALLY sick. I went to bed at 9am and was shaking from a horrible fever at 9:30pm. I made it through the night and was determined that Annika's party would go off without a hitch. But, my sensible, loving husband convinced me that I might just be feeling good coming off some heavy sleep, and I could get worse throughout the day. Maybe I should go to the doctor. One hour and one flu swab later, the doctor said "you're going to have to cancel that party". I had the flu. On the day of my daughter's birthday party!
Luckily, we had planned a small celebration, so a few calls later everything was cancelled. The only casualties were the 24 cupcakes that wouldn't last until the next weekend. So, 5 days of Tamiflu and lots of liquids and sleep, we're pretty much back to normal at our house. The house has been "decontaminated" and we're looking forward to the rescheduled get-together this coming Sunday afternoon. This weekend was already going to be a busy one, so what's another party thrown in the mix? :)
I was feeling a little better on Monday, so I took Annika to Berry College to walk around and explore a little. She had so much fun in her birthday tutu, and playing in the dirt and rocks. We walked around the chapel and she was so excited to see the geese, deer and cows on campus. After a long nap and a good lunch, we made modeling clay and played with that for most of the afternoon.
